Are we in Japan?
On New Year's Eve, my mom and I took the children to the beach so I could take some photos. We parked a little ways down from the train station and decided to walk up to the pier and out along it.
As we got close to the pier, there were tons of people coming off it and walking along the seawall. I stopped to take pictures of the boats and the pier, and pointed out to H that she was looking at the Pacific Ocean.
She nodded solemnly and looked around her before asking, "Are we in Japan?".
I had NO idea what she was talking about and started to tell her no when my mom answered, "No, but I can see why you might think that".
Literally every person around us was Asian. It was as if a tour bus had stopped and let them all off. And I guess Miss H figured that Asian people and the Pacific Ocean meant we were in Japan.
This kid really does scare me sometimes.
That reminds me.... earlier in the week, we walked to a playground/park not far from my mom's house. There was a climbing structure made from tensioned ropes that resembled the Eiffel Tower.
H paused, looked at it, and exclaimed, "That's the tower in France!".
How does she KNOW these things?
According to her, "Boo" tells her.
I hope Boo is around when she takes her SATs! ;)
